Advancing Bible Translation Through Partnership at PBTS Lide-Walker Bible Conference 2026
Baguio City, Philippines, January 7–8, 2026
Wycliffe Bible Translators Philippines participated in the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (PBTS) Lide-Walker Bible Conference 2026 through a promotional and sign-up booth that served as a space for prayer, connection, and discernment in the ministry of Bible translation.
This year’s conference, held under the theme “The Exalted Savior of History,” gathered church ministers, pastors, and Christian leaders for two days of teaching and reflection. The keynote messages were delivered by Dr. Blair Waddell, senior pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Alabama, USA, who challenged participants to anchor their ministries in the supremacy of Christ and the unfolding story of God’s redemptive work in history.
The conference theme closely reflects the heart of Wycliffe Philippines, as Bible translation seeks to make Christ known at the center of God’s redemptive story by ensuring that all people can encounter Scripture in the language they understand best.
Dr. Joemar Cabading, Wycliffe Philippines Church Engagement Field Operation Director, set up the ministry promotion booth in a spirit of prayer, trusting God to guide those He had chosen, called, and prepared to serve in Bible translation. He remembered how the Lord had orchestrated a life-changing encounter on the same campus three years ago. He prayed that God would once again lead attendees toward clarity and confirmation of their calling. Over the course of the two-day conference, God answered these prayers in ways that went far beyond expectations.

Throughout the event, many conference participants visited the booth, including church ministers, theological educators, former students, long-time colleagues, friends, and new acquaintances. Meaningful and open conversations took place as ministry stories were shared—celebrating God’s faithfulness, acknowledging challenges, and encouraging one another to continue serving the Lord with perseverance and hope.
Several visitors, some currently engaged in Bible translation and others with prior experience, came to show their support for the ministry. Among the attendees were Jayson Villamor, Jag Glameo, and Brixter Perez from the Kasiguranin New Testament Bible Translation Team. They also participated in the PBTS Lide-Walker Bible Conference and have been actively supporting Wycliffe Philippines’ promotional drive.
A significant outcome of the conference was the positive response from leaders of two associations and conventions, who expressed willingness to welcome future Wycliffe Philippines promotional efforts and to explore partnerships in the work of Bible translation.
Attendees were invited to explore ways of partnering with Wycliffe Philippines, whether as prayer partners, supporters, field workers, or as churches and associations committed to long-term collaboration. These invitations were extended with humility, recognizing that God is sovereign and faithfully directs each person’s journey.
