Beyond the Church Walls: A Stronger Partnership for Mission and Bible Translation

Manila, Philippines

Wycliffe Philippines, together with its faithful church partner in mission, Grace Christian Church of the Philippines (GCCP), shared the ongoing work of Bible translation through the GCCP: Beyond segment during two of their worship services on April 19, 2026.

The segment highlighted how God is at work beyond the church walls, inviting the congregation to participate more deeply in missions through prayer, giving, and personal involvement.

Wycliffe Philippines is currently partnering with 80 language communities across the country.

A Broader Vision of Bible Translation

Through a thoughtfully produced video from Wycliffe Philippines, the congregation saw a fuller picture of Bible translation, not just as a language task, but as something that touches lives and transforms communities.

The Philippines is home to more than 180 languages, each carrying its own culture, stories, and identity. In this diverse context, Wycliffe Philippines serves around 80 language communities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The ministry also shared that Bible translation is just the starting point. It naturally flows into Scripture Engagement expressed in meaningful and creative ways such as Ethnoarts, Sunday School programs, Bible studies, radio outreach, and values education initiatives.

Alongside this, church engagement remains a key focus. Translation teams regularly visit homes and local churches, while also walking alongside and equipping church leaders through exegesis and translation workshops.

Holistic Mission in Action

Wycliffe Philippines continues to embrace a holistic mission approach. Through Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), communities are empowered by building on their existing strengths and resources.

In addition, Disaster Relief and Outreach programs demonstrate God’s love in practical ways, offering care, hope, and assistance to communities facing crises.

The video presentation ended with powerful testimonies from mother-tongue translators from three Bible translation projects of Wycliffe Philippines. They testified about how lives are being changed as people read and hear Scripture in their own languages. It was a vivid picture of God being worshiped and honored among every tribe and tongue.

Meaningful Engagement and Response

The Mission Vision Casting activity was warmly received by the GCCP congregation, with many actively participating and showing genuine enthusiasm throughout the event. The congregation responded in meaningful ways, with more than 100 individuals committing to pray for specific language groups through prayer keychains, each bearing the name of one of Wycliffe Philippines’ language projects. Forty-one people also subscribed to the Wycliffe Philippines newsletter, while the promotional video and ministry booth were warmly received and appreciated by the attendees.

Growing Interest in Partnership

The interactive “Draw Your Face / We Are Part of God’s Story” tarp was especially meaningful for the younger participants, helping them engage in a fun and creative way while also encouraging them to pray for and support Bible translation.

There was also a strong openness toward financial partnership. GCCP expressed their support through official giving channels and shared their desire to partner in blessing Bible translation projects.
